Despite rumors that his departure from Al-Nassr was due to the arrival of Cristiano Ronaldo, Vincent Aboubakar, a Cameroonian striker has stated that Ronaldo had hoped that he would stay at the Saudi Arabia club.

Rumours had been circulating for weeks until, in December, Al-Nassr and Ronaldo finally reached an agreement.

The Portuguese forward left Manchester United by mutual agreement and joined Saudi Arabian side Al-Nassr as a free transfer.

The signing of Ronaldo by Al-Nassr resulted in the club having to part ways with one of their overseas players.

At the start of 2021, news broke that Al-Nassr had decided to terminate Aboubakar’s contract in order to add football superstar Ronaldo to t heir roster.

Cameroonian international striker Vincent Aboubakar has recently confirmed that he had made his intentions to leave Al Hilal prior to Cristiano Ronaldo’s transfer to the Riyadh-based club.

Aboubakar is now contracted to Turkish side Besiktas on a two-and-a-half-year deal.

Prior to Cristiano Ronaldo’s arrival, Aboubakar had revealed his intention of leaving the team.

With the Portuguese international’s arrival, however, he was forced to go as it was necessary to let go a foreign player. This was mentioned during an interview on French television channel Canal+.

Despite the fact that Ronaldo requested me to stay and the club was willing to cover my salary for the remainder of the season, I wanted to move on.

Thus, they offered me a deal-they stated that they’d still pay whatever I owed them until the end of this season.

How Al-Nassr players feel about Ronaldo being captain – Jaloliddin Masharipov

Al-Nassr star, Jaloliddin Masharipov, has revealed how the rest of the players feel about Cristiano Ronaldo being named the club’s captain immediately after his arrival at the club.

Ronaldo joined Al-Nassr last December after his contract with Manchester United was terminated by mutual consent.

The Portugal captain signed a two-and-a-half-year deal with the Saudi Pro League club and was also made the club’s new captain, replacing Abdullah Madu.

Speaking with Sports.ru, Masharipov suggested that Al-Nassr players expected Ronaldo would captain the team, adding that it was the best solution.

He said, “It’d be a little strange if the rest of the players are captaining Ronaldo.

“We expected it. Our former captain willingly handed over the armband [to Ronaldo] without any problems. I think this is the best solution. It cannot be otherwise.”
