The manhunt for the Los Angeles mass shooting suspect that left 10 people dead and at least 10 injured has ended after Tran Huu Can was found dead in a truck.

According to police, he apparently shot himself after being surrounded.

The 72-year-old man opened fire during a Lunar New Year party in Monterey Park, Los Angeles, California yesterday.

The police tracked him down to a truck and surrounded it.

As police approached the vehicle, they heard a gunshot.

Los Angeles County Sheriff Robert Luna said: “The suspect self-inflicted gunshot wounds and is pronounced dead at the scene.

The sheriff confirmed there were no other suspects in the mass shooting and added that the motive for the attack was still unknown.

“The investigation is still ongoing,” he said.

Officials said detectives are reviewing surveillance video and do not yet know if the suspect was targeting a specific group.

“We don’t know if this is a hate crime by definition, but who walks into a disco and shoots 20 people dead?” Sheriff Luna said earlier.

US President Joe Biden has ordered that flags be flown at half-staff on all public buildings in honor of victims of mass shootings, the White House said in a statement.

Tens of thousands of people gathered for two days of Lunar New Year, one of the biggest festivals in Southern California.

The second day of the festival was canceled following the attack.

The deadliest mass shooting in the United States since a Texas gunman killed 21 people at an elementary school in May, once again highlights the country’s growing gun violence and the Easy access to weapons.

Last year, there were 647 mass shootings, with at least four people being shot dead by a gunman, according to the Gun Violence Archive website.

More than 44,000 people will die from gunshot wounds by 2022 in the United States, more than half of which are suicides.
