Special Eagles coach predicts tough Liberia test.

Head coach of the Special Eagles Gbenga Dosunmu says he expects Liberia to pose another huge test for Nigeria as both sides face off on Thursday (today) in one of the quarter-final clashes of the ongoing Amputee Nations Cup in Egypt.

Nigeria set up the tie against the Liberians by finishing top of Group A with four points and a superior goal difference ahead of hosts Egypt while their opponents placed second in Group B behind Morocco.

In their last game against Burundi, striker, Michael Jewell, was the star performer in the big 11-0 win, scoring seven times while Turkey-based Mohammad Grima also scored a hat-trick plus another goal by Olaa Buhachi.

The last eight fixtures will determine the seven countries that will represent Africa at the 2026 World Cup in Morrocco, with the Nigerian coach not leaving anything to chance against Liberia.

“We expect another game entirely,” Dosunmu told our correspondent.

“We are not looking at the fact that they are second from their group. I have to say they played qualified from a tough group just as we did.

“Like we started the competition, we won’t underrate any team and we will play against Liberia with every determination so we can reach the World Cup.”

A win for Nigeria against Liberia takes them to the semi-finals, as they hope to better their second-place finish at the 2019 edition in Angola where they were beaten 2-0 in the final by the hosts.

Nigeria’s only appearance at the World Cup was in Mexico 2018 where they suffered a group stage exit with just one win in three games against El Salvador.
