Seoul stampede:Lee Ji-han passes away

Lee Ji-han of Producer 101 Season 2 fame lost his life in Seoul stampede tragedy. The shocking incident took place on October 29, 2022.

Seoul’s neighbourhood, Itaewon, witnesses a stampede on October 29 claiming more than 124 lives.
Actor and contestant of Producer 101 Season 2, Lee Ji-han also lost his life.
The agency confirmed the news to the media.

On October 29, Saturday, South Korea witnessed one of the worst stampedes, claiming more than 154 lives. One amongst those who lost their lives in the tragedy is Producer 101 Season 2 contestant Lee Ji-han.

The tragedy took place after many people went for Halloween celebrations to Itaewon, a neighbourhood near Seoul. The news of Lee Ji-han passing away has been confirmed by his agency.


Lee Ji-han’s agency, in a statement said, “It’s true that Lee Ji Han passed away due to the accident in Itaewon on October 29. We also hoped that it wasn’t true, and we were very shocked to hear the news.

The family is suffering immense grief right now, so we are being very cautious. May he rest in peace.” His co-contestants Park Hee-seok, Kim Do-hyun, among other others extended their condolences on Instagram. Lee Ji-han’s funeral will take place on November 1, as per reports.

Following this incident, South Korean President Yoon Suk-yeol declared a period of national mourning for a week. Many shows and fan events involving idols and K-drama stars have been postponed in light of the incident.

For those unaware, Lee Ji-han also appeared in a web drama titled Today Was Another Nam Hyun Day. He was reportedly shooting for MBC’s upcoming drama series, Season of Kok Du and wrapped up shoot last week.

Apart from the actor, nearly 26 foreign nationals also lost their lives, as per reports. The Indian government has also extended their condolences to the bereaved families.
