He has been tipped to join the London team Chelsea FC, where he will become part of a talented midfield featuring N’golo Kante, Mateo Kovacic and Ruben Loftus-Cheek.
The highly rated young player already has 60 professional appearances to his name despite only being 21 years old.
Not only is Christopher Nkunku an experienced player from one of the biggest teams in Europe, but he is also incredibly gifted.
He can be deployed in multiple positions across the midfield and even appears on occasion as a striker or winger.
Owing to his excellent technical ability on the ball and fantastic vision for creating chances for his teammates or himself in attack.
His passing range is also remarkable, with a powerful left foot that can deliver pinpoint accurate crosses into dangerous areas within the attacking third of the pitch to exploit space quickly against any opposition defence.
This core skillset make him suitable for any style football control possession or faster paced transition attacks against opponents with little time to react
Chelsea hope that by signing Christopher Nkunku it will help them strengthen their current midfield line-up which needs additional depth for upcoming competitions such as Champions League qualification play next season
Ahead of his move, Christopher Nkunku has reportedly undergone a medical at Chelsea’s Cobham training facility in England this week and remains on course to join the Blues before January transfer deadline day passes.
According to the MailSport, Nkunku ‘had a secret Chelsea medical last month’, with Todd Boehly set for a £52.8m deal to trigger Bundesliga player of the year’s release clause next summer.
Nkunku is one of several forwards on Chelsea’s radar being targeted to improve the attacking depth of the squad.
Although no deal has been agreed yet for the forward, Chelsea lead the chase for the Frenchman.
Chelsea and Leipzig have had good business in the past with Timo Werner who returned to the Bundesliga side in August.
