The famous British journalist Piers Morgan named the four best players in football history.
That was after Lionel Messi led Argentina to the 2022 World Cup final in Qatar.
Messi is in superb form for Argentina, scoring (from the penalty spot) and providing a miraculous assist to help Man City’s Julian Alvarez double in a 3-0 win over Croatia.
But Morgan still believes that Cristiano Ronaldo is the greatest footballer of all time.
Many assumed that Messi’s heroism on the biggest stage in the world would cement his place as the greatest footballer in history.
Former England international Gary Lineker tweeted shortly after Argentina’s win over Croatia: “Still a debate? Asking for a goat.
Morgan was quick to respond: “No. It’s Ronaldo.
“I think Cristiano Ronaldo is the best player ever, [Diego] Maradona 2nd, Messi 3rd (probably 4th, after R9).”
Cristiano Ronaldo, one of the football stars and considered the greatest player of all time, was eliminated from the tournament in the round of 16.
In doing so, Morocco became the first African country to qualify for the semi-finals of the FIFA Senior Men’s Football Championship and will face defending champions France in a second semi-final on Monday.
The winner of the match will face Argentina for the most prestigious trophy.
