Commuters, motorists and transporters in Nigeria were on Tuesday greeted with an increase in the pump price of Premium Motor Spirit, PMS, popularly known as fuel, as petrol stations in Warri and across the nation adjusted their pump price to over 600 naira per litre.

Some filling stations visited were dispensing the product with the adjusted pump price which ranges from over five hundred and eighteen naira, to over six hundred naira per litre, depending on the fuel station.

Some vehicle owners, commuters and transporters, who spoke to DRTV Newsin Warri, Ughelli and other parts of the state, complained bitterly against the hike in the fuel pump price.

They wondered what could have necessitated the new price regime in PMS, saying that many Nigerians are yet to recover from the first increase in PMS when President Bola Tinubu announced the removal of fuel subsidy in his inauguration speech on May 29 this year.

Others, who spoke called on the President to make good use of the funds that were supposed to be spent on fuel subsidy on people-oriented projects that will help cushion the impacts of the subsidy removal.

They equally advised the government to put the country’s refineries into functional state, as a way to crash the continuous hike in PMS price.

This is the second time in President Bola Tinubu’s almost two months old administration that Nigerians are experiencing skyrocketing increase in PMS prices.
