Gospel singer, Sammie Okposo passes away

Gospel singer, Sammie Okposo, has passed away.

The news was confirmed to DAILY POST by a close source.

He simply said: “Bros don go”, which in local parlance means “he is dead”.

There are speculations that Okposo slumped and died.

Okposo’s death comes months after he was embroiled in an adultery scandal.

The ‘Wellu Wellu’ crooner, in a lengthy Instagram page, urged Nigerians to pray for him.

He admitted cheating on his wife when he travelled to the US in late 2021.

The 51-year-old also suspended himself from all ministry work until full restoration as he sought forgiveness from God.

Biography of Gospel Singer, Sammie Okposo

Sammie Okposo was born in May 30, 1971, he celebrated his 50th birthday May 30, 2021.

He hails from Delta State in Nigeria, the South South region in Nigeria and of the isoko speaking tribe.

He was a music producer, psalmist and CEO of Zamar Entertainment. Released first album Addicted in 2004.

He has collaborated with many other artists in the field of gospel and soul music, collaborated with popular gospel singer Marvelous Odiete on ‘Follow You’, performs regularly in Africa, Europe and North America, and has produced a series of songs called SOPP. Curated a concert ( Sammie Okposo Worship Party).

His latest album The Statement (2018) was produced by his Grammy Award winner Kevin Bond.

Sammy Okposo publicly apologized to his wife Ozioma for his infidelity via his Instagram page on January 24, 2022. The apology came a day after a woman known only as an African Doll accused her of impregnating and abandoning her.

The gospel musician told fans that he was taking a step back from his ministry to seek recovery and forgiveness.
He first removed his social media handles, but put them back on after a few days.

He collapsed and died on Friday, November 25, 2022.
