FIFA released a video on Saturday in which they thanked Cristiano Ronaldo after the match against Morocco. Portugal were eliminated in the quarter-finals of the World Cup and the ‘7’ suffered greatly from this elimination.
Cristiano Ronaldo played in what could have been his last World Cup. Morocco knocked out Portugal and the striker could not stop the tears as the dream ended for his national team in the quarter-finals.
As a result, FIFA dedicated a video to the player on their social media. They thanked him with a video that compiled the best moments of his World Cup career.
Ronaldo, who has been a substitute in recent World Cup matches, did not come on until the second half on Saturday and he could do little to reverse the scoreline, allowing Morocco to become the first African team to reach the semi-finals.
The image of the footballer trying to hold back tears after the match has gone around the world. The Portuguese striker has not yet been able to become a world champion, nor Portugal’s top scorer at a World Cup.
