Brighton put pressure on Everton manager Frank Lampard with a huge win at Goodison Park. Kaoru Mitoma put the Seagulls ahead with a light finish after Moises Caicedo knocked the Japanese winger from the edge of the box.

The Toffees, who were lucky not to fall behind when teenager Evan Ferguson headed off the post, were booed in the first half.

Ferguson, on his Premier League debut, hit Jeremy Sarmiento’s low cross into the top corner before becoming the assist for Solly March to push past the Seagulls’ third line.

Idrissa Gueye’s superb back pass was then easily blocked by Pascal Gross, who chilled out Jordan Pickford with a chipped finish.

Demarai Gray scored a late penalty for Everton but it was only solace in a miserable evening for the hosts and their supporters.

The final whistle sounded along with boos from the home fans, who have watched their team win just 1 of the last 10 top-flight matches.

Everton could fall into the bottom three of the Premier League on Wednesday if further results go against them, while Brighton move up to eighth.
