A Federal High Court in Abuja has struck out a request seeking to nullify the candidature of Bola Tinubu for the 2023 election.

The Action Peoples Party (APP) dragged the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential flagbearer to court.

Suit no. FHC/UM/CS/124/2022 joined the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) as the first defendant.

The former Lagos governor is the second defendant, and the ruling APC the third defendant.

The plaintiff argued that Tinubu allegedly submitted to the 1st defendant false information in his form EC9.

They said he failed to include his primary and secondary education in his form CF001 of 1999, submitted ahead of the gubernatorial election.

The APP cited section 29 of the Electoral Act 2022 and 131 of the 1999 Nigerian Constitution.

APC counsel, Babatunde Ogala filed a notice of preliminary objection, insisting the suit was statute barred and that the APP had no locus standi.

APC campaign spokesperson, Bayo Onanuga said the plaintiff was not in court when the matter came up before Justice Emeka Nwite.

“Justice Nwite subsequently struck out the case for lack of diligent prosecution”, Onanuga added.

2023 Election: Atiku campaign official asks PDP to expel Bode George

Adetokunbo Pearse, a Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Presidential Campaign Committee member for Atiku Abubakar, has urged the party to expel Bode George.

The chieftain accused the former Deputy National Chairman of anti-party activities.

Pearse made this call at a news conference on Wednesday at the PDP secretariat in Lagos.

His comments followed George’s meeting with five governors led by Rivers Governor Nyesom Wike.

Wike, colleagues and other aggrieved stalwarts announced the formation of Integrity Group on Sunday.

They reiterated their demand that National Chairman Iyorchia Ayu should resign for a Southerner to succeed him since Atiku hails from the North.

Pearse said the expulsion of George from the party would give PDP a fair chance of victory in Lagos in 2023.

He noted that members, including the ward chairmen, insist George leaves the party “for it to survive and win the election”.

“This is the voice of the people and these ward chairmen are the vehicle to the voices of our members.

“We are appealing to the party leadership to send a notice of expulsion of membership to Chief Olabode George”, NAN quoted him saying.
